See You Soon by Mark Keathley

We have had pets all our life, but none was as special to us as Louie – a black standard poodle who became a source of companionship, comfort, and protection with his presence. While grieving his death on Christmas Morning 2025, my wife was talking with Jesus and He told her “give him to me, and I will give him back one day.” She had a flash of a picture of Jesus holding him in his arms. It was immediate comfort to her and to us all. Many other folks have reported dreams and near death experiences where an important pet was reunited with them while walking in the beautiful fields of heaven with Jesus. In one story a man said his favorite childhood pet seemed to communicate to him “See you soon” as he darted off over the hill just before Jesus sent him back into his body. He had been dead for over 15 minutes in the hospital. It has been 2 months since Louie's passing – his grave in our front yard is in full bloom with the flower garden we placed over him, but our joy is in our hope of reunion we will experience one day when the promise is fulfilled.

I wanted to depict this moment when we walk on the other side – seeing, again, those we love, and our furry friends - our dear companions, who meant so much to us. Here they come, over the hill with the Savior who promises to give us “the desires of our heart.” - Mark Keathley
