"I haven't really spent much time at the ocean and haven't gotten to paint it as much as I'd like. The beaches nearest me are the Gulf and Carolina coast, which are really pretty, I just find better compositions for paintings more so at shorelines with rocks and harbors like in the New England and Pacific coasts. Since I'm so far away from them and I've got a young child and my wife has a busy schedule and I try to paint as much as possible, I can't really go anywhere besides my back yard unless I need to go somewhere for work or groceries. But the beautiful thing is, I can go anywhere in my imagination, where you can find this bright sunrise and harbor in the painting. I wanted to go for a color scheme that felt like the early morning sun was bursting through the fog and giving you all the feelings of gratitude, hope, and potential of a new day!"
