Closed for the Holidays by Mark Keathley This Fall, as I was traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, I encountered this picturesque old mill.  It was built in 1903 and I enjoyed thinking about how the settlers over 100 years ago had to work so hard just to get simple pleasures like hot cornbread with their meals.  With the Holidays approaching, the long days of working at Mabry's Mill have come to an end and the business of celebration has arrived. May you, too, find rest from your work, time to rejoice, and abundance of love for those gathered around you this holiday season.

Rocky Mountain Grandeur by Mark Keathley
In this life, we are given places where we can be awed by the creator.  I believe I have captured one of those relaxing spots and peaceful moments in time that one wishes would linger on. Enjoy the clouds as they move in and cover, then reveal the many details of these rugged peaks. Even the geese are relaxed as they begin to slip into mirror lake. The freshness of spring is in the air, so breathe deeply, sit quietly and let your soul be renewed as you enjoy the Mountain’s Grandeur.

Christmas Tree Memories by Mark Keathley
Jim is a jovial, likable, and friendly man that started selling Christmas trees when he was a teen with his father and mother.  He later became a pilot and flew all over the country, but every fall, his passion was to continue the nostalgia and a place for family traditions of providing a “Let’s go get a Christmas tree” family affair in the Memphis area.   Over the years it expanded to several lots, and even pumpkins!  He was famous in his white Jeep, “there’s Big Jim!” the kids would say, when they saw him in his jeep.  thousands of families have been blessed with his efforts to provide an “event” and a  fun place to go and hang out during the holiday season, and He has so many stories to share about it.   In this painting, I tried to capture many of those memorable moments and put them in a scene that would inspire your own Christmas nostalgia.
