Clyde by Abraham Hunter Buddy Artist Notes

Early this spring, my brother and his wife stumbled upon two baby orphaned raccoons. I quickly volunteered to assume the role of daddy (and mother) so as to take good care of them. They were barely two weeks old and kept me up every two hours to feed them from a bottle and cuddle them. My sister gave them their names; these masked bandits deserved, Bonnie and Clyde. They were the sweetest pets I've ever had, and kept me company for weeks in my studio. They're now living happily with other raccoons on a wildlife refuge and even though I'm sure they don't remember me, I will always remember the precious moments I spent with them. I took painstaking time on their portraits, and I tried to capture their individual personalities. Clyde had bigger, floppy ears and always had a cute bewildered look on his face while he followed his big sister around. Bonnie was extremely curious, very vocal, and was a big mischief maker to say the least. These paintings of them hold a very special place in my heart, and I'm so glad you've given me the chance to share these paintings of my kids with you.

Risen by Abraham Hunter

When I set about to paint this piece, I kept asking myself what it would be like to be in the tomb that morning? To feel the cold hard stone, the foreboding of deaths sting, and the deep darkness that surrounds you in the cave. It would be more than enough to engulf you with the despair and grief that Christ’s disciples felt after His death and burial. Life without Him is just too dark, unforgiving, empty, and difficult to bear.

In this painting, I didn’t want to only show the light and power of Jesus resurrection… I wanted you to participate in His death and victory over death. When I look into this painting, I feel like Jesus is calling me out of the darkness of death in the tomb, and into His glorious light! Through His power, I can go step forth from the void and join Him in the abundance and life that we find as we draw nearer to His light!

In John 11:25, Jesus told Martha these words to comfort her after the loss of her brother Lazarus. He said, “I AM the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

I hope this painting inspires you to believe in Him, and live the life that He is giving to you.

Fly By by Mark Keathley

I love nature. It is full of surprises. I can recall many times hunting when "what" I was after showed up at the least expected time. One morning I was hunting in a deer stand near Bastrop Texas and had been extremely patient (for a 15 year old) sitting for two hours in this wooden box with windows when I just couldn't take it anymore. I hadn't seen anything all morning but a fox and some black birds and thought if I got out and walked, I could see more and cover more ground. So I quietly got out and walked to the south down a fence row that I had been looking down from the stand. After walking super quietly for about 200 yards, I turned around just in time to see a trophy buck standing 20 feet from my stand looking at me. He hopped the fence and disappeared into the woods never to be seen again. A moment I'll never forget.

In "Fly By" this yellow lab is dreaming of the day he will get to come back to a spot like this with his companion / owner and enjoy the hunt. I wanted to create this scene for your eyes and your own desire to be "in it" with your dog. Maybe he is there alone, but you could enter the drama -- just pretend you set out some decoys and then turned around to see what might be the closest ducks all day. What ever just happened, this scene is just waiting for you, so grab your thermos of coffee and a dog treat and come sit a spell and watch the magic.

Buddy by Abraham Hunter Buddy Artist Notes

Sold Out

The winter months usually give me a severe case of cabin fever. Right down the road from me is a small lake with a hiking trail around it. So I usually brave the cold, and take a quick walk to get some fresh air. This year, I made a new friend on these walks, and I've painted him for you. This cute squirrel greets me each time I arrive in the parking lot; then he'll scamper around looking for food. Each time I would see him I'd say, "hey buddy", and the name seemed to fit. Buddy helped me learn to not complain about the weather so much and also to be thankful for each day. I find that God finds lots of little ways to remind us of his love, no matter how cold the rest of the world can be. I hope this painting of Buddy brightens your day, brings joy to your heart, and puts a smile on your face.

Old Glory by Rod Chase "Acorn Street, which is pictured in Old Glory, is a narrow lane within Beacon Hill that is paved with cobblestones. It is often mentioned as the most picturesque street in Boston. At twilight, the focal point of the whole street is the flag which literally glows in the dimming light. Elements in the painting are sometimes changed for both metaphoric and aesthetic reasons. The street light on the upper left is not lighted. This I did to keep the eye traveling to the interior of the lane. If it had been lit, it would have shown off all the brick walls around it taking the viewer to that area rather than down the lane to Old Glory." - Rod Chase
