Let Your Light Shine by Mark Keathley

In our travels, Bonnie and I get to meet some great folks and visit some amazing places.  So amazing are some of the destinations, it seems we are always thinking, should we move here?  We go to a beach town like Cape May, NJ or Myrtle Beach, SC and the beauty and serenity of the sand and water, the sunrises, the festivities, altogether call to us with a “you could be happy here.”   Or we go to the higher altitudes of the mountains where the summers are pleasant, and you get just the right amount of snow in the winter, and the subtle beckoning is heard again.   However, we have learned that there is no perfect place, no spot on earth where it all comes together where there is low humidity, little danger, no critters to bite you, or catastrophes possible -  there is only the PERFECT ONE to be near and find our joy and fulfillment.   We have heard a different quiet speaking - “Grow where you are planted” - “LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE” - “for I AM with you where ever you are.”

God Shed His Grace by Abraham Hunter New Page 1

This is the big piece I've been working on for weeks!!! This is a painting inspired by life on the farms here in the mountains of Cades Cove, Tennessee! I always love capturing light and feeling in my paintings. A good painting can transport you in time or make you feel like you're in the scene. In this piece, heaven's light is breaking through the clouds of a September cold front. You can feel the fresh cool air blowing in over the mountains. The trees are just faintly tinged with autumns warm tones and some mallard ducks have arrived from Canada to spend winter on a southern farm. The wind mill stands strong and faces the winds of change, as sun casts its light on this homestead that reminds us of a simpler, more beautiful time gone by. This painting is an 18x27 and is titled God Shed His Grace.

Evening at Grandma's by Mark Keathley Grandma's house was one of my favorite places to be.   When I ponder on the "why" of that, I find peace and acceptance in that place.   There is no recollection of strife and especially no memory of a face that showed any disappointment.   My memories at "Gramma's" were full of wonder and exploration, new adventures and old relics, good cooking and big gardens.    It was wonderful.    Everyone should have a place where they feel totally loved and safe like I did.   In Evening at Grandma's, I want to remind everyone of that happy place, where we are free to discover things on our own, accidentally let the chickens out, paint outside the lines, and rummage through the stuff in the back of the barn.   I hope you have that in your memory and still have it in your present - for it is true living.

Twilight in Central Park by Rod Chase One of Chase's most popular paintings, Twilight in Central Park, features the Gapstow Bridge with the Plaza Hotel in the background. Twinkling lights from the city's windows reflect on the dark water in the foreground contrasting their warmth with the crisp cold of a winter evening. Another contrast is evident: the city is alive with activity and yet, it is completely silent and serene from our vantage point in "Twilight in Central Park".
