This painting is a tribute to Norman Rockwell. Thom was inspired to paint this while visiting Arlington, Vermont, a place where Rockwell lived for many years. Rockwell’s house is now a bed and breakfast. Thom is the only artist every allowed to paint in Rockwell’s former studio. Note the graffiti on the bridge is an actual tribute to Thom’s family. The bridge’s sign says its elevation is “528” feet - 528 signifying Thom and Nanette’s marriage date. Rockwell owned much of the land depicted in this work at one time. This work is the first in the series.
