This grand late 12th century Gothic cathedral is located in Chartres, France (southwest of Paris).  The cathedral has a complex labyrinth that some pilgrimage and walked on their knees through the maze for penance.
 
The magnificent cathedral at Chartres is one of the most painted and photographed architectural wonders in the world. I set up my easel on a misty afternoon, when steam seemed to rise from the surrounding canals. This view provided me with a fresh look at a familiar treasure.
